Veiled in Red

End of July 2016, two weeks after the attempted military coup in Turkey, life in Istanbul is mostly back to normal, at least on the surface. Nevertheless, the city feels different. On Taksim Square people gather every night to celebrate republic and democracy. In order to mobilize great numbers, the entire public transport system of Istanbul is temporarily free of any charge. Billboards all over the city are proclaiming the nation's sovereignty and Istanbul is veiled in red turkish flags.
